Peter Guber talks the fickle economics of film making

Some interesting insight into the finances of Hollywood hits. Peter Guber, the man responsible for championing Batman to the big screen in ‘89 (also had a hand in getting flicks like The Witches of Eastwick, Gorillas in the Mist and Flashdance made) uses Avatar and Paranormal Activity to help describe economics in today’s Hollywood.

Wesley Snipes Pic of the Week

Wesley Snipes Pic of the Week

It’s a widely known fact that Wesley Snipes is his generation’s greatest Actor. Here at Planned Failure we like to recognise greatness.

Wesley we salute thee.

I’m back baby!

I could apologise for the delay in posts and explain that it was all due to a heavy shooting schedule for my movie “Rodney Fickle - Online Athlete”. Add to the schedule my time consuming new hobbies; telepathic spoon bending and air sickness bag collecting, and my all consuming quest to create and build a following for a new martial arts form I call “The way of the Angry Umbrella Mouth Gulper Eel” (focuses on sleekness, awesomeness and power or, if you will, S.A.P. )…. But I won’t. Instead let me bring you up to speed. I’m going to break this down ‘Dear Diary’ style

District 9 Trailer

A little while ago during the height of the Halo 3 insanity there was an announcement that Peter Jackson would be producing a Halo flick with a guy called Neill Blomkamp. Then they released a couple of short Halo videos, these shorts were rough self funded proof of concept style outings. I loved them and became real excited at the prospect of a new Sci Fi epic. Then it just kind of went away, I’m not sure what the story was but I think it came down to getting the funding to get it done. The cost sky rocketed and scared of the companies behind the project. The other reason I remember hearing was that the film companies putting money up for the flick didn’t feel Neill Blomkamp was up to the job, even though heavy hitter Peter Jackson was vouching for him. Looking at the above trailer I’m so pumped to see District 9. I bet the aforementioned film companies are kicking themselves now.
